WAV also sponsors and funds many SickKids Research Chairs.
The Women's Auxiliary Volunteer organization has proudly sponsored and funded five endowed research chairs at SickKids, totaling over $12 million. Endowed chairs recognize the world’s most accomplished and promising minds who are contributing to their global scientific communities through world-leading research and academic activities.
The following five research chairs have been funded through WAV:
- Chair in Neonatology (est. 1995): Dr. Estelle Gauda
- Chair in Paediatric Haematology/Oncology (est. 2001): Dr. Jim Whitlock
- Chair in Urology and Regenerative Medicine (est. 2010): Dr. Armando Lorenzo
- Chair in Clinical and Metabolic Genetics (est 2012): Dr. Roberto Mendoza
- Chair in Image Guided Therapy (2019): Dr. Joao Amaral
